There was a time when two wheeler companies used to have a speed war. That is which company can make the fastest bike. But now the competition has shifted to technology and features. This means that companies are now focusing on developing technologies that make everyday driving better and easier. Generally, for motorcycle riders, gear-shifting seems like a tedious process. But now the leading Japanese company Yamaha has solved this.

The Japanese company Yamaha is a big name in the two wheeler industry and this time the company is thinking of something new and has introduced a new technology to the world. The company has developed a new automated manual transmission gearbox for the bike. Which is named as 'Yamaha Y-AMT'. This new technology has the potential to completely change the experience of riding a bike. So let's find out what is special about this technology-

First of all, let us tell you that automatic transmission is not new to the motorcycle industry. About 90% of scooters sold worldwide today use a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This is a type of automatic transmission. For example, in India, Honda uses DCT technology in its scooters.

Along these lines, Yamaha has developed this new automatic transmission especially for motorcycles. The Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) ushers in a new era with advanced gear shifting technology, the company says, adding a new dimension to sports riding. Faster gear-shifting will improve your driving experience even at high speeds.

How this technology will work:

As we said this technology will provide a comfortable ride, which can be used in future Yamaha motorcycles. In this technology, gear buttons will be provided on the handlebars instead of the foot-peg gear levers provided in conventional motorcycles. This means that the driver does not have to use his feet to change the gear, rather he can easily change the gear of the bike with his fingers.

The company has also released a video of it. Accordingly, bikes that will use this system will neither have a foot-change gear lever nor use a clutch. The entire gear change process can be done manually by the driver at the push of a button or it will be done automatically by the "Y-AMT" system.

How it will work:

Two switchgear (+) and (-) will be provided on the handlebar of the bike itself. which can be easily pressed with fingers to increase or decrease the gear. Apart from this, the user will also get two driving modes in the form of AT/MT. That is, the driver can switch the bike between manual transmission and automatic transmission modes. While in manual mode, the driver has to control the gear with his fingers, while in automatic mode, the user will be able to drive like a scooter.

Apart from this, a mode button will also be provided on the switchgear of the bike. Which will give Yamaha's automatic system a chance to switch between 'D' and 'D+'. Here 'D' stands for putting the bike in a relaxed gear shifting mode that the user can use for normal driving in the city. Whereas in 'D+' mode, the engine can be switched to higher revs, which will give the bike better acceleration. However, this system will be used only for premium bikes.
