Today is the second day of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha. Even today, the swearing-in ceremony in the Lok Sabha is going on. Yesterday 266 MPs took oath including PM Modi. The remaining MPs are taking oath today. Along with this, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will announce the name of the speaker today. Home Minister Amit Shah and JP Nadda held a meeting late Monday night to decide the name.
Actually, today is the last day to nominate for Lok Sabha Speaker. So NDA candidates have to file their nomination till 12 noon today. Speaker will be elected tomorrow after filing nominations.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, 'Opposition had a call from Rajnath Singh. He said that the opposition should be supported on the post of Speaker and an opinion should be made. We said that we would support the speaker, but the opposition should get the post of deputy speaker. Rajnath Singh had said that Mallikarjun would call Kharge back. But that call didn't come yet. Modi says kuch hain aur karte kuch hain. If the post of Deputy Speaker is contested by the opposition, then we will support it.'
